Product Description

This hands-on training program will cover how ND-YAG, Picosecond, and Q-Switch lasers work, including the physics of these lasers. An essential part of the course will be an overview of the anatomy and physiology of skin parameters, photo facials, vascular and pigmented lesions, and tattoo removal.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Evaluate and discuss basic skin, hair, biology, and anatomy
  • Distinguish between facial rejuvenation concepts
  • Analyze skin pigmentation reduction and perform
  • Understand and perform sanitation and disinfectant procedures
  • Evaluate and apply laser and ND-YAG history
  • Describe the laser operating safety procedures on clients
  • Distinguish between skin toning, pigmentation removal, and tattoo removal
  • Describe and perform deep pore cleansing with carbon
  • Evaluate and apply equipment testing and maintenance
  • Critically assess laser parameters (wavelength, pulse duration, spot size, energy settings)
  • Distinguish between medical lasers for skin problems
  • Perform skin typing and fluency selection
  • Understand and perform post-laser treatment for the client
  • Evaluate and apply client consultation and patient observation

Program Classification:

  • Class B.

Admission Requirements:

  • BC Medical Spa nor the student applicant may waive the admission requirements.
  • Minimum Age: All applicants must have completed grade 12 or be a minimum of 19 years of age. 
  • A copy of a photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport or BCID) is required to prove identity.
  • All applicants must complete a student enrolment contract before their application is processed.
  • All International students must obtain a valid education study permit through Citizenship and Immigration Canada. International students must submit a copy of the approved permit to the school.

The Laser ND-YAG Technician Program was viewed and approved by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB) registrar of the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training.
