Program Information:
Hours: 120 hours.
Course Breakdown: Aesthetic Dermatology (40 hours), Controlled Exfoliation & Chemical Peeling (20 hours), Microneedling (20 hours), Laser IPL (20 hours), Radio Frequency, Cavitation, and Lipo-Laser (20 hours).
Length: Full-Time: 6 weeks / Part-Time: 12 weeks.
Cost: $7,500.00 plus taxes.
Application Fee: $50.00.
Assessment Fee: $35.00.
Locations: 1214-2929 Barnet Highway, Coquitlam & 1854 Marine Drive, West Vancouver.
Certification: Students will receive a certificate solely from BC Medical Spa upon completion of the course.

Product Description

This advanced hands-on training program will thoroughly examine patient consultation, selection and education surrounding skin care procedures and techniques. Theoretical knowledge and efficacy issues will be essential for assessing successful treatment within the individual courses: Aesthetic Dermatology, Laser Photo Facial (IPL), Microneedling, Controlled Exfoliation & Chemical Peeling, Radio Frequency, Cavitation, and Lipo-Laser.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this program, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Apply foundational skin care principles and safety protocols in simulated clinical scenarios.
  • Diagnose and classify skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and melasma, understanding their causes and appropriate treatment methods in the context of aesthetic dermatology.
  • Explain the mechanisms and applications of ozone therapy, steaming, high frequency, radio frequency, cavitation, and lipo-laser treatments.
  • Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge into hands-on practice with various skin care procedures, such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and facial laser treatments.
  • Implement rigorous sanitation and disinfectant protocols to ensure a sterile environment and patient safety.
  • Analyze and evaluate advanced facial rejuvenation techniques, including controlled exfoliation, chemical peels, and non-invasive facial laser treatments.
  • Explain the biological mechanisms and stages of healing for various skin care treatments, such as microneedling and chemical peels, and how to maintain results over time.
  • Create and implement detailed consultation and after-care plans tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring optimal treatment outcomes.
  • Relate theoretical knowledge from textbook readings to practical applications in the industry, demonstrating an understanding of current trends and best practices across all included treatments

Admission Requirements:

  • BC Medical Spa nor the student applicant may waive the admission requirements.
  • Minimum Age: All applicants must have completed grade 12 or be a minimum of 19 years of age.
  • A copy of photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport or BCID) is required to prove identity.
  • All applicants must complete the following Class B program offered by BC Medical Spa before they can register for this advanced program:
  • Microdermabrasion & Skin Care Technician Program (Duration: 20 hours) – This program covers the basic principles and practices of skin care.
  • Alternatively, applicants can present proof of a credential from another institution, provided it meets the following criteria:
  • The credential must be from a recognized institution specializing in skin care.
  • The program completed must be at least 20 hours in duration and cover fundamental principles and practices relevant to the advanced program being applied for.
  • The applicant must provide detailed curriculum and content of the completed program to ensure it aligns with the basic knowledge and skills required for this advanced level program.
  • All applicants must complete a student enrolment contract before their application is processed.
  • All International students must obtain a valid education study permit through Citizenship and Immigration Canada. International students must submit a copy of the approved permit to the school.
