    • Enrolment is open year-round. Students can begin their program once they have completed registration and payment or when their funding provider has confirmed tuition coverage with our institution. Since class sizes are small and led by experienced instructors, spots are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

Description

This comprehensive hands-on training program provides an in-depth exploration of advanced laser and skin care techniques, preparing students for a career in cosmetic aesthetics.

The advanced phase builds on the foundation, covering specialized treatments such as laser IPL & diode, laser ND-YAG, microneedling, cold body sculpting, body contouring, and chemical peeling. Students will learn advanced practical skills, develop comprehensive treatment plans, and manage client care, including post-treatment follow-up and handling complications. The program emphasizes professional development, ethical considerations, and the application of advanced theoretical concepts to practical scenarios.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this program, the successful student will have reliably demonstrated the ability to:

  • Apply foundational knowledge of laser and skincare principles in simulated clinical scenarios.
  • Analyze advanced techniques for skin rejuvenation, including fractional laser, microneedling, and RF treatments, and assess their effectiveness.
  • Diagnose and categorize skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, rosacea, and acne, understanding their underlying causes and appropriate treatment options.
  • Integrate advanced theoretical knowledge into hands-on practice with laser devices and skincare.
  • treatments, performing procedures such as laser treatments and chemical peels.
  • Implement comprehensive sanitation protocols to maintain a sterile environment and ensure patient safety during treatments.
  • Conduct thorough client consultations, observe and assess patient conditions, and perform regular testing and maintenance of laser and skincare equipment.
  • Explain the biological mechanisms and stages of healing for various laser and skincare treatments, and how to maintain results over time.
  • Evaluate different laser and skincare techniques, such as ablative vs. non-ablative lasers, and discuss their indications, benefits, and limitations.
  • Create and implement detailed consultation and after-care plans tailored to individual patient needs, ensuring optimal treatment outcomes.
  • Relate theoretical knowledge from textbook readings to practical applications in the industry, demonstrating an understanding of current trends and best practices.

Admission Requirements:

BC Medical Spa nor the student applicant may waive the admission requirements.

  • Minimum Age: All applicants must have completed grade 12 or be a minimum of 19 years of age.
  • A copy of photo ID (Driver’s License, Passport or BCID) is required to prove identity.
  • All applicants must complete the following Class B program offered by BC Medical Spa before they can register for this advanced program:
  • Aesthetic Dermatology Technician Program (Duration: 30 hours) – This program covers the basic principles and practices of skin care and laser treatments.
  • Alternatively, applicants can present proof of a credential from another institution, provided it meets the following criteria:
  • The credential must be from a recognized institution specializing in skin care and laser.
  • The program completed must be at least 30 hours in duration and cover fundamental principles and practices relevant to the advanced program being applied for.
  • The applicant must provide detailed curriculum and content of the completed program to ensure it aligns with the basic knowledge and skills required for this advanced level program.
  • All applicants must complete a student enrolment contract before their application is processed.
  • All International students must obtain a valid education study permit through Citizenship and Immigration Canada. International students must submit a copy of the approved permit to the school.
